A trip to Pala-U Waterfall is a must for every visitor to Hua Hin. Approximately 70 km from the town the road passes through some beautiful tropical forest with impressive views of the mountain range behind which lies Myanmar (Burma). Sadly, the Thai Forestry Department is charging foreigners 200 Baht to entry the waterfall area (Thai citizens 20 Baht), a practice that is deplorable and illegal.
Still, the waterfall is great for picnics and bathing in an enchanting tropical setting. Butterflies abound and there is a good change of spotting wild gibbons, especially on quiet days.
